Hello, I’m Margarita Espinosa, the hidden face of Caperucitazul
I am an illustrator and a painter, mainly using traditional and digital techniques and then adapting them to different types of media and formats.
I have taken part in several collective and individual exhibitions in Bogota, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Menorca.
The materials I use most frequently in my work are watercolours and acrylics on paper or wood.
I was born in Bogota (Colombia), where I studied Graphic Design. After finishing my degree I worked in different press media, I was a senior designer for several companies and I worked for a couple of advertising agencies but suddenly I finished my Colombian sketchbook and I decided to ''cross the pond'' in 2002 to study Illustration and Visual Communication Techniques in Barcelona. When I was there I came to spend a holiday in Menorca and here I have been living since 2006 on this small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, still enjoying the longest holiday of my life.
Between projects, fairs, craft markets and a physical shop; I had created without even imagining it my own brand called CAPERUCITAZUL.
CAPERUCITAZUL seems to come into being by spontaneous generation like bacteria, but it does not. CAPERUCITAZUL is colour, is navy blue, is calm and serenity, is the inner child that plays inside me, is my passion, is what I like to do most, is women who bloom full of life, the Menorca sea that surrounds me, the colours and joy of my land, the lighthouses that guide me, the fish and jellyfish that play at my feet, the love of my family and my friends, the mother, the self-employed, the secretary, the housewife, the illustrator, the drawing artist, my days of sadness and joy, my Sunday walks and my endless hours of work and also of learning, of frustration and satisfaction and above all of growth; it is the most vivid reflection of my inner beauty that I want to share with each and every one of you.
I like the commitment to my work, the quality of what is personal and the need to continue believing in small and fair trade.
